Green RecycleGreen…green…everywhere is Green!

Many companies are feeling the pressure of “going green”. In doing so, a lot of companies are advertising their services as green, when they are not. I’ve even heard the this being called “green washing”.

So how do you know if your water damage company is really an eco-friendly company? Here are a couple of things that Wipe Out does as a green company.

Cleaning Treatments:
Traditional cleaning treatments in water damage and mold cleanup leave behind toxic residue. These residues have been linked to everything from minor ailments to major diseases. Wipe Out uses green cleaning solutions, whether for mold cleanup, application of an inhibitor during the drying process or for carpet cleaning. All of our cleaners can be safely handled by our technicians and pose no health threat to homeowners after application. They are comprised of plant-based solutions.

Wastwater:
Untreated wastewater, such as the water that is extracted during a water damage cleanup project and contains substances and dirt from your flooring, should not be disposed of just anywhere. Improper disposal of wastewater can carry the risk of contaminating the local water supply. Wipe Out disposes of all water from jobs into a sanitary sewer system, ensuring it goes to a treatment facility, not into the St. Johns River!

Homeowner Recommendations
We give the homeowner specific recommendations in case of an emergency flood situation. These recommendations are geared towards saving the clients contents (less items in landfills) and preventing unnecessary waste of water, which does ultimately impact the environment. These prevention tips also help prevent further damage.

Recycle, recycle, recycle
Not all construction materials that have been damaged need to go into our landfills. Wipe Out has identified such materials which can be recycled. We are always looking for new locations to drop of building materials.

No paper please
Wipe Out handles all contracts, estimates and invoicing online, which helps with the reduction of paper usage. We strive to be 100% paperless, but being a paperless company is not always easy. If a customer must have a printout of any of our materials, we ALWAYS print on post-consumer recycled paper!

Bio-degradable
To not add to our landfills, Wipe Out debris is removed in 00% biodegradable and 100% compostable bags.

These are just a few ways that Wipe Out can claim to be an eco-friendly company. What are some ways you are eco-friendly? We would love to hear from you and share your story.
